Leaders of volunteers wear many hats – and volunteer programs often becomes an organization’s catch-all. You probably do everything that doesn’t fit neatly in coworker’s job descriptions! After all, your own job description probably says “Responsible for other tasks as required.” How do you get your main job done – caring for volunteers and leveraging their time to accomplish your organization’s goals – with all these other tasks on your plate? Join us for an honest conversation about managing your side tasks to protect yourself, your volunteers, and your program from the gradual scope creep that affects us all.

Jared Peer, CVA, leads a Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP through AmeriCorps Seniors) in East Tennessee. He has led volunteers professionally for the past five years, but has volunteered and led volunteers through most of his life. He is passionate about building successful AND sustainable volunteer programs, and about leveraging the power of volunteers to increase our impact on the community. When not at work or volunteering, he loves gardening and building with Lego.
